On a cold and un-giving morning there were some inspiring and also troubled rides. Andy Davies pulled off an all time PB and was 3rd overall from the 118 competitors and deservedly won the Club’s Brocklehurst trophy. There was a battle royal for the Handicap award which went to old fox Rob Barrett closely followed by Philip Porteous and Dena Ford. Despite the strong chilly wind Dena PB’d for the course and she was comfortably the fastest woman from the 30 who rode. Phil Porteous also pulled off an all time PB claiming it was all due to the turbo sessions. And Sally White gave a gutsy performance in the conditions and she goes home with the Longmarkers trophy. Sadly Pete Lawrence retired due to an unlucky mechanical and Chris Ford hit the wall and found himself on the grass, probably not yet fully recovered from recent illness. Alan Simmonds played it safe and decided not to ride because of a back injury.
