Sports Cover Direct (our Sponsors) MD Jules Hucks managed to sneak out to Majorca last month with his family for some late summer sun/training and they smashed a few HWCC records in the process! Great effort!
Their report can be read here:
''The four of us flew Easyjet from Luton to Palma. We took 3 bikes in boxes and hired one for Amanda from a local Bike Shop in Pollenca. The journey went very smoothly and bikes arrived in one piece.
Weather was mixed but generally above 20 degrees and the last two days were like a good summers day in the UK!
Riding was tough but rewarding! Some great countryside and epic climbs and descents. Generally we set a route for Amanda on her Garmin and aimed to meet up a few miles from home. Worked very well.
The HWCC information page on Mallorca / Pollenca was very useful.
On one of the days we met up with “Sir Guy” and Tom Townsend who were doing an Epic ride (111 miles with 10,000 ft of climb!)https://www.strava.com/activities/753871738/
Based on times recorded on Strava we can report the following achievements:
Ollie Hucks (17) – fastest HWCC ascent of Sa Colabra to Coll dels Reis – 30:26
Sam Hucks (15)– 3rd fastest HWCC ascent of Sa Colabra to Coll dels Reis – 30:26
Jules Hucks (50+) – fastest HWCC descent to Port de Valdemossa 7:37
See the photos of them descending Sa Calobra, one of the longest and toughest climbs around, here:
