We would like to introduce our supported riders for 2022:-
Charlie was also a supported rider in 2021 and developed significantly during the season with ever improving time trial results and a few circuit races. He also put in an impressive ride in the RTTC National Hill Climb on Winnats Pass.
Charlie: “My objectives for the 2022 season are going to include: focusing on the discipline of time trialling and as well as this, circuit criteriums, which I had a brief experience of participating in 2021. For time trials my main goal is to go below 23 minutes for 10 miles. The way I believe I am going to achieve this is by dialling in my new aero position which I have obtained by getting a bike fit and also increasing my power output in this position. For the criterium aspect, my aims are to finish on the podium at least once this year. As I have just moved up into Category A (under 16), the competitors I will be facing will more than likely have a lot more experience so there will be lots for me to learn and develop my race craft. I would like to conclude by thanking all of the Wycombe club committee and all members for their continued support, I hope that the year 2022, I will not only make myself proud, but the whole of HWCC.”
Sam is a relatively recent member of High Wycombe Cycling Club but has regularly ridden in club activities particularly our chain gang in 2021. Sam’s objectives for 2022 are to get his Category 2 race license, compete in the National Road Race and some of the National Road Series. He also hopes to win a road race.
Jacob rode with Brother UK – On Form in 2021 taking part in a range of road events as well as being a regular competitor in the HWCC Evening Time Trial Series at Longwick. Jacob outlined his 2022 objectives to us earlier this year: “This season I will be continuing to develop in racing national level races with a race program based around riding such events. However, towards the beginning of the season I won’t be ignoring smaller, regional races. As both ways to secure points and build form for mid-season targets at races such as the Victor Berlemont Trophy. I hope to be racing exclusively national events by the end of the early season, with hopes of competing in the National Road Series and most importantly the National Championships.”
We would like to wish Charlie, Sam and Jacob every success in their racing this season. We hope to be able to bring you some regular updates during the year and hopefully some photos of the new HWCC kit in some of the UK’s biggest races.
