Welcome to Mallorca 2025!
We have a challenging set of routes planned for 6 days of cycling plus some alternatives. If you follow the links, the majority of the routes have a description of the day and the plan. Don’t save them to your Strava accounts or download them to your navigation devices yet because if we tweak them, then the link changes. We’ll give you the green light a couple of weeks before to save them, and notify you if there are changes past that point.
The general approach will be to meet on the ramp outside of the Puerto Azul hotel for a 1000 departure in 3 groups, cunningly named A (28-30kph), B (26-28kph), and C (24-26kph). For some of the bigger rides, we may choose an earlier departure and we don’t have to be dogmatic about following the plan exactly. We need to be flexible based upon weather, conditions, and how people are feeling. And there’s nothing stopping any of us from splitting from the plan and taking a splinter group on one of the alternative rides or, indeed, on your own ride.
The routes (distance and climbing) are challenging; they’re intended to be. It’s fine if a group decides that they want to swap out a route for an alternative.
One thing that we haven’t done for a few years is the bus out, bike back option. Planned for Day 4, bus out to Andratx and ride back. It’s a beautiful route according to those that have done it before. Bus booking details to follow but if we want to do that we will probably have to book fairly early in advance to guarantee a place and take a punt on the weather.
In terms of groups, I considered being authoritarian and putting people into pre-designated groups but the civvies in the planning team convinced me otherwise. Choose the group that you feel best suits you but what we want to try and avoid is an entire group being held back by a couple of riders who may have been over optimistic about their level. It might take a few days to settle but try and find the group that best suits you.
