The club offers regular off road rides meeting every Sunday at 09:00 at The Walled Garden Cafe in West Wycombe (HP14 3AP). These run throughout the year (weather dependent!) and are always great fun and very sociable with a cafe stop around midway. Distances vary but generally they tend to be anything from 35 to 50 miles depending on terrain and time of year.
We also run the Hellfire off road ride every Thursday throughout the Summer (again from West Wycombe) at 18:30. This is about 16 miles (an extension to around 20 is optional).
The Chiltern Hills are a beautiful area for us to explore and trails tend to be flowing and twisty with some climbs but equally rewarding descents. The terrain is mostly woodland with a few rooty/stony sections but the views and scenery are stunning. It’s a great way to explore the area.
The routes are suitable for cross country style mountain bikes but most can be ridden with care on gravel bikes. As per our road rides, the routes are published on Spond, our members portal, a week before.
In addition we also run a number of longer off road rides throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn. These are published further in advance to allow people to plan for a full day out. We’ve had memorable trips across to the Isle of Wight, an off road ride into London, a day out to Marlborough and back (Wiltshire) as well as several others.
